The Official GoPro HERO3 Housing is a fantastic bit of kit, now with a distortion free flat lens for underwater filming as standard.
But the glass lens cover is completely clear so has no fixes for colour balancing.
To make the most of your footage underwater, you will want to fit one of these magenta lens filters, to help
restore the colour balance, and make the footage a lot more vibrant!
A magenta filter helps when filming underwater rebalancing the excess green hues present when attempting to capture
footage under both fresh water and also in sea water around non-tropical coasts (such as Canada, and the UK).
Often when filming underwater with a GoPro too much green is present on the video and the colours of bright sea life,
objects and stunning fish are totally lost.
You want to capture your aquatic adventures with natural colouring just as you viewed them, and these filters offer great
value for money to allow you to do just that!
This Magenta filter is designed mainly for use in fresh water, but it can also be used in non-tropical seas around the world.
Magenta filters are fine to be used right beneath the surface (if the water is very green), down to about 70 feet.
Below 70 feet you should use an artificial light source due to the lack of natural light at that depth.
When filming in tropical blue coloured seas around the world, a red filter will actually be more suited to colour correcting your footage.
(For tropical / blue water, you should take a look at the Red HERO3 Filter below)
This internally fitted filter is absolutely perfect for those who dive down to 70 feet and wish to have a semi-permanent filter solution.
If you do wish to swap out the lens filter for different conditions this can be done using the included fitting tool.
